I first met Svetlana on the now defunct dating site EASTWESTMATCH.com in February 2007,we spent the next 5 months getting to know each other better, I put her through several tests to see if she was genuine,as I had already been in contact with several Russian/Ukrainian scammers via dating sites, all appeared to be good,so as I was quite interested in her and I liked her personality,I decided to travel to Russia in July 2007 to meet her,she and her aunt Olesya Senich arranged an apartment for me,close to her home on Stachek Prospekt, Saint Petersburg, for the 5 weeks I planned to be there. The whole thing was a scam, we met at Pulkovo airport and from there went straight to a bank to change dollars to rubles, then a drive to the apartment where I was told to wait with Svetlana; her aunt would go pay the owner who was waiting up on the 13th floor as they had told the owner THEY were renting the flat and so didn't want ME to be seen ... This was the first red flag, I felt very un! easy handing the cash over to Svetlana, but as I had agreed to her finding this flat I agreed as I didn't want to offend her by refusing. Total paid was $5000 for 36 nights The apartment complex was dirty, with rats in the basement and a smell of goat piss, the apartment itself was tiny, what Russians call a "1 room apartment" and in my opinion, not worth half the money...after I returned to Australia I paid a Russian detective who uncovered the truth, the flat owner only received less than half the $5000 ...
